Plans are fine, as long as they are not binding. They can lead to stress.
Relax and decide day by day what you want to do. Here are a few tips for a rich, unforgetable summer, which, for the Gallo family, is always filled with food, wine, kids, excursions, ice cream and memories.
Do it only if you really must. It will be packed with tourists but if you don't already have a photo in which you “support” the famous leaning tower, you could go there. Traveling to the big cities like Siena and Florence is not the best idea because of the severe summer heat. We recommend that you go to San Gimignano, Volterra and Bolgheri. They are a stone's throw away from Vitalba.
We can tell you exactly where to find beaches in the closest coastal area, Vada. If you want to drive a little further down the coast we highly recommend Baratti, a gorgeous beach with a pine grove and a bus where you can eat your lunch. You really should get down there. There are other beaches along the coast between Livorno and Castiglioncello. We also can suggest a more exclusive spa on the cliffs with spectacular views and a pool overlooking the sea.
In Tuscany it is almost impossible to have a bad meal. We do have our favorites to suggest. Lenka can tell you where to get the best tiramisu and advise you not to share with anyone.
We do not have an army of tourist organizers, who will entertain your children. If that is what you are looking, Vitalba is not for you. But there are plenty of things for kids to do, all approved by Vojta and Ema. There is the train that takes you through an old mine, many trekking possibilities, an excursion to a waterfall. Roman thinks it is a wonderful place to swim but Lenka prefers to just admire the cold water.
The area is great for bikers but because all the roads lead down from Vitalba, Roman recommends a service vehicle to get you home. Lenka thinks a defibrillator would be a good idea.
Delicious food, excellent wines, the sun and sea, the star filled skies there is something for everyone. Come to Tuscany to experience the Italian “Dolce Fa Niente” or the Sweetness of doing Nothing.
